The first of a double-bill of SG-1 this week (no Atlantis this week folks - a double bill next week!) and rounding off the first half of SG-1's ninth season. What did you make of this, the penultimate episode to the mid-season break?

Well I certainly wasn't expecting an episode like this! My favourite of the season , thanks largely to "Jude Law's" chilling performance as Khalek. There was a great sense of invincibility and threat about him, even more so than the Ori. Fair dues to the actor - thought it was one of the best guest performances they've had in ages.

Daniel's decision to kill was interestingly given he's the moral centre of the show. It shows truly how much he feared Anubis' power that he'd actually take a life (and in quite a bloody fashion at the show's end).

In fact the whole team had a good turn and usefulness this week (oh and kudos to the line "Hey! New guy!" as Daniel verbally slapped down Mitchell). Dr. Lam, for the first time, came into her own and didn't feel like a Fraser replacement. Hell even Landry felt good as he stood up to the HoloDoc.

And of course it led nicely into the next episode. All this from, what I can tell, a first time writer? Well done to him.

I liked Khalek and his longing to experience the thrill of watching his enemies die slowly by his own hand. Seemed nicely psychotic :)

Neh, it was alright. I didn't like Khalek much, his diatribe about killing seemed to go on forever and had me thoroughly bored. I didn't find him threatening at all either, infact I laughed when he dropped the innocent-guy charade and did the "look at me, i'm evil! grrrrr!" glare at Jackson. Maybe it's because i've been watching a lot of Spooks lately but the dialogue seems really clunky these days. The character interaction seems really stale.

I haven't seen episode 10 yet but I'd imagine this ascention machine is gonna be used a lot later in the series...

Didn't really like this episode tbh... felt it was a bit melodramatic... that bit with the monologue about killing people was far too obvious...

I thought it was OK. What did put me off was the writer's inability to accept that baddies do actually have a shelflife, i.e. Anubis. Felt it was a filler and squeezed in to allow some way forward on the whole Ori thing. (OK I've seen 10 so I can say that with confidence :p )

I thought this was quite good for a filler episode. They needed to find some way of tipping the balance of power from the Prior's because otherwise they have no hope. The study of an advanced human was exactly what they needed, and although the timing was and circumstances of finding him are a bit meg, the alternative is to have the show end in a blitz of the earth being wiped out.

So, now that Sam rigged the gate on the other world to return anyone, does this mean that nobody can ever go there again? I'd guess so, as they probably don't want anyone to ever be able to get their hands on that equipment.

I assumed it only returned Khalek because he didn't transmit the password. It'd allow the SGC crew to return back.

    Loved it.
    Thought it was great.

Re-hashing but without flogging the dead horse.

I like how they returned to old story lines.

Juts between two mindsas to whether Khalek should have died, maybe it would haveb een wiser to get more stories out of him.

Was it that he wasn't as powerful, or didn't see daniels bullets that he got shot?

Liked it but did i miss something?

he healed himself when first shot but died when daniel shot him...was it cause he was shot in the heart?

He was putting all his efforts into stopping Mitchells bullets and so he didn't even see Daniels one coming.

Mitchell -Look over there! A flying hamster! *points*
    Khalek - Where?! *looks around*
*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Daniel - Ha ha! Owned. :D
