Does he do your head in?

He does mine, if he ever turns up on the box and says before a game that Liverpool will win tonight I won't belive him cos he's always saying we're goning to loose/struggle.

His cracks about certain players and indeed managers (Ged) a getting very boring. He said Houllier will "destroy" Lyon by Christmas playing "15 behind the ball" etc.

Unlike his regular BBC pundit partner Alan Hansen, Lauro no longer seems interested in intelligent analysis - just poor, ingratiating wisecracks.

    Mike.

p.s. not just a question for Liverpool fans

Can't stand him anymore, ditto Hansen. The pair of them seem more interested in pimping their own fame than intelligently analysing football.

Yeah I gotta agree, he does get on my nerves everytime he opens his mouth.

To be fair to him he is far far better when he is on irish TV/radio, he actually tries to talk sense now and again, whereas on BBC he just sits there,on the fence usually, making very bad puns (most of which i don't get). It seems like the BBC want a certain thing from each pundit, and they get it. From Lawrenson its bad jokes and reminising about the good old days.

BBC/ITV both have pretty useless coveage imo. Mainly due the pundits they employ - Ally McCoist,Peter Schmeical etc and.Even the better ones, namely Hansen, don't seem to care much any more. He's really been reduced to token grumblings about defending. Ron Atkinson was in fairness a good pundit before he shot himself in the foot, and now the best of ITV's bunch is Andy Townsend, which is saying something.

Watching the Man Utd match on TV the last night the best thing was the quality of conversation coming from Dunphy/Giles,particularily about Rooney's situation - a real breath of fresh air from watching Packie Bonner struggle to string a sentence together at half time in the Liverpool match.. When is the last time a pundit on english TV had the balls to call Sven a clown? Have they ever had the balls? Doubtful

Did you not see the grilling he gave Sven last week on football focus, hes a legend. He said all the things the british are too scared to say.

Yeah, can't stand him. He doesn't bother me much when he's on the MOTD panel but when he's doing commentary he does my head in, he's always just trying to be funny.

    What are you talking about?

Bonner: So what did you think of the defense tonight?
Mark: Well, Paky, ay?.... you know *shrugs*... ay?
    Bonner: Hmm, yeah.

I think he's one of the best pundits around.

Ronnie Whelan, on the other hand..................

I think Ronnie Whelan is ok to be honest.

I think the one thing that all pundits lack on Irish TV is impartiality. If an English teamis playing against a French or Spanish team, they should not assume that most of Ireland is up for the English team, and give us the entire analysis from that perspective.

Mark Lawrenson's best one has to be "it's only a small town, Deportivo", while talking about Deportivo La Coruña. He's a fool alright. He likes to make up words too, and not in a funny, Big Ron kind of way, but more in an annoying kind of way.
