My sister is in her final year in BESS, and she told me that you have to queue up to get lockers or something.

So, what I'm asking is this:
When are the lockers arriving, and can someone snag me one near the main CS lecture hall please?

Thank you for you time, patience and effort.

    (he he he...)

it doesnt work that way, as far as i know you have to queue up yourself on the first day of term to get them

Unless you're hulking books around - which if you are entering CS is unlikely - a locker isn't really necessary. If you need somewhere safe to stash things the cloakroom usually does the job.

Not sure what day, if I remember correctly it was the second week of term last year. You've to go to the Arts Block in the morning to get them. The large double lockers in the Arts Block and the ones on the ground floor of the Hamilton usually sell out first (i.e. you've to be there from 6 or 7 in the morning). They cost e30 I think, and you get half that back at the end if you return your key (as I've forgotten to do so far during college).

The Eng Soc do allocate lockers too for a euro.

is it not the first day of term?(not freshers week, 1st week of lectures..) same as indoor soccer bookings and stuff...tho i haven't gotten a locker since 1st year so could be wrong..

afaik it is the first day of term. My mate and I do this annual pilgrimage to get the very first bus to town from lucan while it is still pitch black out. If you're there about 06.50 - 07.10 queing is not an issue. If you arrive at 09.00 you might as well set up camp. And it's directly inside the Orts block entrance.

Heh, got my locker two weeks after the "mad-rush monday". People always forget to bring back the locker sheets, and there are some left after the mad rush...

They must make an absolute fortune on those lockers; they don't advertise the fact that you can collect your deposit at the end of the year so most people don't. Wonder where all the money goes?

think it goes towards changing the locks of those lockers whose keys were not returned.

if you don't wanna q, then get some else to do it twice....and pick up 2 forms. they won't know. all you need to do to get a form is to say where you want the locker and to be there before they run out.

then, with that form you can show your id, pay your deposit and claim your locker up until 5pm on that Monday or the Friday...not sure which. so if you're the lazy type...get a mate to do your dirty, early morning work.

getting into college for 7am is not the nicest thing in the world, but i found my locker extremely handy over the past couple of years- good for chemistry labs (no queueing for cloakroom, and i always stored my lab stuff in locker so didnt have to lug it around all that day). oh and very handy when i go into 'sh*t i have to cram' mode a couple of weeks before the exams (can leave notes and books in college for the library the next day etc). the relevance of a locker kinda depends on the course i guess but i thought it was worth it :) undecided about it this year but meh ill probably end up getting one..

first of all, there is no such thing as a main CS lecture hall. you will be traipsing back and forth between the hamilton and the museum building for most of your days (and maybe the odd one in the arts block).

secondly, i found mine dead handy - used throw my bag with my laptop in there before going out on the piss - makes life a LOT handier.

They tell you when you get the key, I would have thought that's enough.

Nah it's purely my own fault and laziness. If it was a €50 deposit you can be damn sure I wouldnt forget :o

At the end of the year you can go to the Building Supervisor's office, before the keys are due to be handed back, and ask to have the same locker again next year. He marks the form and you get to hold onto the locker for the summer and the next year (with the same key), and just have to pay the rental some time in the first week of lectures - the deposit rolls on to next year.

At least, you used to be able to. I had the same locker for two years running - it was a handy tip one of the Security guys in the Arts Block told me.

Serenity: no idea, but there arent that many lecture theatres in the lloyd and cs, for some godawful reason, seem to love shafting us with the museum building.
