Trailfinders - Would you use them again?

Just from the RTW thread I have noticed conflicting views on Trailfinders Travel Agents.

Personally, I have booked return flights to Bangkok with them and found that once I paid in full for the flights they didn’t want to know me.

My flight times were changed and I was never informed of this. Only by doing a double check myself I would be completely unaware of the change.

I was informed when booking the flights that I had to pay the full amount in 24 hours as the deal I was getting was finishing at midnight. So I paid the lot.
3 days later, a friend went in enquiring about the same flights and my "last minute offer" was available to him also!

Alot of boardies have used Trailfinders for long haul trips.
How did you find them? Would you use them again?

i've never had any problems with trailfinders...
the sales people in dawson st. were always helpful.
i flew to bangkok, havana and the states with them without any worries or problems. Just once on a trip to the states the flight times changed and they informed me in writing of this about a month beforehand...

i've never went on a rtw trip though.

Is this your main grumble with Trailfinders??

If so, how did you find out about the flight times change and how much did it differ from the itinerary given to you by the company ?

I booked my flight to Oz last year with Trailfinders.

I doubled-checked my flight times a day or two before departure and all was ok.
(Although I too would be a little annoyed if flight times were changed and I wasnt informed!)

.......have also been getting Oz brochures from them ever since :D

We booked with them when we went to Australia a few years ago and they where sound
However went in a few weeks ago to book a trip to South Africa. Talked to the rep saying we where only looking for flights and we will book our own accomodation. Sat down for about an hour and came up with what we wanted. So we where about to pay the deposit and he said it had to be paid in full by 3 weeks?? The trip was not until feb of next year?? We said why is that and got the reply thats the stipulation however if we did book accommodation with them they could extend it. We said no way and just walked out
Then the next day I rang to complain about this. Checked out the flights first and the rep on the phone gave me the same flights but gave us enough time to pay?? Told them about what the other rep told us and they could not understand that ?
Either there is some issue with training or the rep was looking for a bigger commission not sure ?
we went with them as they where the best deal but only for flights.

I unfortunately used tralifinders a couple of times
Mostly because when you goi n to them before you book they seem very helpful and knowledgable .
On the way out my flights were cancelled because of bad weather not their fault,
They insisted on me going up to the airport even tho the airport was going to closed (more fool me )
They were useless to try and get info from and just kept giving me some number in the airline to call which wasnt the correct number
Eventually after a long horrible day and loads of calls i got on the phone and blasted them out of it & they called back having booked me on a new flight a few days later -their attutude is once they have sold the flight they dont care -their insurance was with an english company and they wouldnt even bother to get/send me a form i had to call england to get it
Hotels had been booked and because the dates changed we lost teh 1st night accomodation even tho the hotels themselves had no cancellation fee when you booked directly -also lost transfer fees from airports etc .
Coming home they maxxed out my credit card by putting the payment through twice and wouldnt refund it for about a week and also insisted i had to take a specific flight because my visa was running out but were too ill informed to realise i would have to get a visa anyway because it stopped for longer than 12 hours
Book with usit -or directly with the airline -just nick their brochures and go day dreaming instead awful awful awful

Yea pretty much! Just thought I would vent on the internet instead of pissing off my workmates going on about it!

Found out by going to the airlines website.

Out by about 2 hours, and with the time it takes to get though security I would have been cutting it tight!

I booked my flights to Oz with them about two years ago. Wanted to stop off in a few places in the US on the way so there was a fair few connections involved but Trailfinders did a great job of it for a good price.

One thing i will say, ill never fly United Airlines again....

We have just booked out RTW trip with them. Flights for 3 with 7 stops and nearly all our accommodation. I found them extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There prices are just unbelievable. For instance we were looking to book the lakes resort in Cairns. The website had an internet special of half price for 7 nights. Trailfinders bet this price.

On another note, with regards to flight changes. I got a call last week to say that our flight from OZ to NZ, which was supposed to be Melbourne - Auckland - Christchurch had been cancelled and they could offer a later flight. They said I could, is I preferred take a direct flight which was now available. We were over the moon.

To summarise I have found them very professional, very knowledgeable and very cheap.
