    Right, tubes. They can't be as complicated as they seem. When you are replacing them, it's just an unplug the old one and plug in the new one job, right? What's this rebiasing craic?

    The naming conventions are also a bit of a mystery to me. I'm told I'll need a 12AX7. There's quite a few around but some have an ECC83 mark as well. Is this a particular type of 12AX7 or what?

    ECC83 is a 12AX7. European and American names. They're preamp tubes so you won't need to rebias.

    EL84's may need biasing depending on the amp in question.
