Those prices are insane --- Eddie Hobbs needs to do a program on rip-off classics in Ireland.

Surely there is much better value in the UK for most of these ?

    I agree...

Alpha - your 1300 Junior is very reasonably priced compared to some of the stuff there. Lovely looking jammer too. :)

I'm surprised at the price of this, seems quite cheap.

After going over to UK to look at classic cars and being messed about by false descriptions etc. i found nothing worth buying under £10k as anything under that is full of filler or needs alot of money spent on it.
i would rather pay over the odds for a restored car and half restoration cost of rebuilding one.
so as long as its good i dont think were a rip off ireland, but there are those who price cars that need work at a finished car price now thats another story.

I couldn't aggree more. That's exactly why I concentrate on low mileage, few ownership, preferably 'unrestored' Left Hand drive cars that have originated in a nicer climate as Ireland or the UK. Much better to keep such a car in good knick, as opposed to an umpteenth times restored Right Hand drive car....

Occasionally I do find the odd well cared for RHD car here in Holland, but in most cases the RHD cars are not great either, even here in Holland where people generally look after their classics very well. Only two days ago I checked out a Daimler Sovereign from 1974 RHD moss green, in supposedly excellent condition. On closer inspection it fell way, way short of the 9,500 euro's the owner was looking for. Mind you it wasn't a bad car with good oil pressure, no smoke, excellent shifting autobox, smooth running engine. But there was definitely something amiss in the rear drivetrain on hard accelleration, rust in the edges of the floor pan, which could potentially have already progressed into the sills, I don;t know, but most of all a horrible paintjob. The bottom half of the car was resprayed and it was starting to flake here and there, with the top half flat in places... I'd say it was worth about 4k, because ALL the options including the airco were fully functional, interior lovely condition with a nice Moto Lita steering wheel...

Goes to show, it's not only Ireland that's overpriced, it's owners across the world thinking, or believing I should say, that their car is in a much much better condition than it genuinely is.

Well the Irish stock is soon to grow by two exUSA rust-free Biritish ladies. But not for sale in the foreseable future... :)
