xbox - error 16 -- help

ok - i was messing with one or two of the settings in avalaunch, now when i turn on my xbox i get error 16 please call our support (which im not).
It appears that i could have deleted or changed the dashboard file.

My xbox is soft modded, i cant get past the load up screen, then it comes to error 16 screen.

I have tryed to boot the xbox up with slayers - but it will not load

Can any body at all help me

error 16 = ms dashboard error. Did you do the softmod yourself? If so you could try booting up whatever game you used to install the mod and run the gamesave which will give you ftp access from your PC. Then you need to fix it maybe using the files from slayerz or wherever. Sorry for being vague but you'll need to give some more info (type of softmod used, whether or not you have the eeprom backed up, the location of your avalaunch files etc)

If you have the eeprom and the worst comes to the worst (no way to ftp to xbox) you can use eeprom + C drive files + xboxhdm to create a bootdisc for your PC that'll unlock the drive and restore the xbox system files (mostly in C) to the way you bought it. Then softmod again

otherwise it's hotswappin' time (never worked for me)

There's a good tutorial here: xboxhdm tutorial The option that you want to look for is "restore xbox c partition"

you'll have to softmod again once you've recovered the xbox. use one of Krayzie's autoinstallers for softmodding (Ndure is the best nowadays)


you could try and use one of the softmod packages designed for xboxhdm and do the whole recovery + softmod in one go if you think you're up for it. I've never done it but it would be quicker.

I think you have "unlocked the hard drive" check the setting it needs to be kept locked from what i've heard.

No the hard drive was always locked

I actually fixed it on friday night

Threw the hard drive into a pc and followed that tutorial by silverlining(cheers mate) and first unlocked the hdrive then did a restore of the disk using that xboxhd tool.

Then took it home plonked it in the machine and hey preso -- all i had to do then was add all the applications.

Now i get a blinking red and green light at the beginning but still kicks in to avalaunch so he he he

I am still having a problem with forza motorsport though

it wont load - either the original or the copied version load up

anybody had this problem

Think i read somewhere about forza being picky, you cant copy forza saves as they are locked to the MAC address of the network card. Maybe something along those lines is happening here?

Do you have the retail MS dash installed as well ?

Have you set Avalunch to change the LED colour?

No dont have ms dash installed - dont know how to do that

dont really want to mess with the settings either
