Is it possible / legal to get a computer through work with my bonus and for them to use their VAT number(?) to avoid paying VAT?

    Thanks
    M

Legally you can't because if they buy it and then pass it on to you, they shouldn't claim back the VAT.

The auditors of your company might have something to say about it.

Revenue would lick their lips if the company had a revenue audit and they found the transaction.

It isn't legal. Unless the company is buying the machine for you so you may work from home. They would retain ownership of it etc.

    Then, afaik, it's fine.
