Laptop won't start

    Is it power or someit more complicated? Help- Laptop (Medion, cheap as hell) over 2 years old, recently gives me terrible bother booting. Battery is shagged as no lights appear without being plugged in but that's not a problem. When plugged in won't boot, but power light green under AC. Nothing happens, fans whir and CD light does flicker. Then all stops, so sometimes I leave it for a while, power it down by pressing power button for 5 secs and then it may or may not come on. Usually starts within an hour but few days ago spent 2 days trying in vain, loads of work time lost. Was told to plug out all cables and take batt out to let fully discharged and that worked to the extent that I am now typing this after only an hour and a half of trying! Could this be an internal power thing or what??? Service guy i know is not even sure what it is without bringing it to his hospital, but i need it desperately this week. Gonna leave it on until i think i may be safe!!! Please help...PS not very techy so plain talk would be much appreciated!!! :confused:
