    Folks,

The nice man is install my NTL digital box today. I'm wondering if its possible to use a scart -> svideo connector/convertor to avoid the necesity for a scart connector... (the video feed will be displayed on my computer (Pinnacle TV Card) rather than a TV). My tv card can accept s-video input but no scart connector unfortunately.

Any comments/suggesstions? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks for the reply dude. I'll head up to power city at lunch and get that connector.

Do you mind posting up what model your tv card is, where the video in put is going (svideo into the tv card?) and where the audio input is going (aux in on the sound card?)... just basically where all the cable are plugged into.

I don't have Sky Digital myself but have used an adapter like this to make SCART-SVideo connections and it works fine for that. I had a Pinnacle PCTV Pro and with that one (without hardware encoding), you would route the SVideo into the TV card and the sound into your sound card. With hardware encoding cards generally you would route the sound into the TV card along with the video.

    Hey man,

I've got the part you mentioned and all the connecting cables.. i've run the svideo into the sivideo connector. I can't seem to get it to switch over to AV channel. Media Centre says it can't switch channel. Is there a way of tuning AV manually?

My Pinnacle came with an application called PCTV I think, and there was a drop-down just below the video window that allowed you to select S-Video or composite in. What are you using? You don't have to 'tune' AV, it completely bypasses the tuning circuitry. If your software is different, you might try things like channel 0, channel 254/255, etc.
