You can apply for the Green Card lottery, which is usually on every 18 months/ 2 years, on www.usembassy.ie

Its free to enter the lottery, you will see some of these sites that will charge you, I dont see why people use them cause it takes 2 minutes to apply for the lottery with the embassy yourself.

Here's more info on it. Be sure to read the section about fraudulent websites.

there's no reason to pay a company to process your request. Keep an eye here http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ about the lottery visa. It's normally open for applicants from around November until February. You do it on-line and once you follow the guidelines, it's really handy.

Why anyone would want to apply to work in America is beyond me. We are living in one of the best economies in the world and there are way more opportunities in Ireland/Europe than in sluggish America...

Maybe he/she wants to experience a different culture.

There are more opportunities in certain areas over from an employment point of view here esp in the arts.

Also alot of american cities piss all over dublin wrt things to do. I for one will never voluntarily live in that over priced dump ever again.

btw, the bulk of the european economy i.e. France, Germany etc is more sluggish than the US. Ireland is an exception.
