ok, i'm after a bass amp. i've been offered a good condition 2nd hand Trace Elliot Commando 15 bass combo for 400euro. i've used a number of TEs and i like em. your man selling it lives near me so its sooper handy.

my question is - am i going to get a better amp for this money?

That doesn't stike me as that great a deal tbh. I think, for the money, there are way better deals to be had. It seems like a lot of money for what is a fairly bog standard amp. Bear in mind there was a guy selling an Ashdown MAG 300W 1x15 combo not to long ago for just a little more (he might still be selling it afaik) and 150 second hand watts for €400 seems just a smidge overpriced.

Besides if he's selling it for 400 then you should offer 300 in cash and wave it in his face as you walk away. I bet he takes it!!

Dont' get the commando! Reminds me of Apple rehearsal studios. It's extremely basic and not worth 400. €150 would be more like it for a commando.

ok 400 is over the top but i like basic amps tbh.

Yeah me too but there's basic and there's ****. It's at least 5 years old and they're the type of amp that should decrease in value. Try something second hand alright but something good. I had an obsession with Trace Elliot for all the wrong reasons and never found an amp I liked even after spending 2000 on a head and cab. Have a look at the warwick range or if you can add another hundred or so you could perhaps pick up the mag 300 2x10 which is a great little amp for the price.

My brother used to own a Commando long ago. They're not worth €400. Maybe half that at a push. I think "basic" was a bit euphemistic. :)

If you are anywhere near Cork I think I could get you that exact model amp for at most 300 quid off a friend of mine selling his. Let me know if you are interested and I will confirm that.
