i recently bought 3 tenda pci wireless card and a motorolla AP. i got the ap going ok and installed the pci cards to. i was trying to connect 2 win xp computers together over the network but i can't access any files from the other computers. i can see the other computer over the network alright in the network places, but 1 computer says i don't have permission and contact administrator, and if i try accessing the other computer it telling me something the same.
there is a yellow dot over the wireless card in the device manager but i tried removing it, installing it a updating driver still wont go.

but on the task bar it says wireless connection excellent (in same room) so it is seeing the ap.

1 computer is connect to the ap with a cross over cable,
and the other is with wireless card.
i've open connection selected no wep key to enter
    any ideas???

i forgot to say, i set the pc's ip that is connected to the ap to 192.168.40.1 subnet to 255.255.255.0 and the other pc to 192.168.40.2 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 as the instructions said.

i used the ping command in dos and it is replying from the other machine ok and i turned off the security settings and the firewall i was running

You might try and set the IP address to "Automatic detection"

i got it sorted thanks anyway, it was xp pro on both machines. i re-installed it and it worked. i was able to be a server in games and the other computers could connect, but they couldn't access my shared files.
