    Also worth checking British Midlands:

Who told you that? I find it hard to believe they would cut any one flight due to fuel costs. Now they might re-accomadate you on a different flight due to yours being very empty but thats a slightly different kettle of fish.

Even in that case a lot of half empty flights will go out simply because they are much fuller on the return leg.

ok i jumped the gun in blaming aer lingus. not sure who we were flying with.

my gf booked flights through a travel agency. the travel agency wrote to her this week and said our flights had been cancelled due to fuel costs. they would have to add 95eur to each seat for the flight to be feasible. a full refund was given and they offered us a 50eur travel voucher.

now if this was just a holday i wouldnt care but my gf is actually going to the states to sit exams so the last thing she wants to be worrying about is flight cancellation.

we have since found much cheaper flights so there is a happy ending. my apologies to aer lingus for my outburst!sorry the details are a bit sketchy. ill be talking to her tonight and will post all the details so we can have a right rant about it.

Sounds likes Slattery's travel - flying from Cork to the US. It was in the paper at the weekend. Certainly wasn't Aer Lingus.

Ahh yes that one. Im a bit suspicious about that myself. 95 per seat seems awfully dear even for a fuel surcharge. I reckon someone got their sums wrong there.....

Yup that's it, nothing to do with Aer Lingus. Shame it was cancelled though Cork was really looking forward to a transatlantic flight of its' own.
