Got my XPS2 replaced by Dell because of rebooting

    Hi Lads

I had problems with rebooting in CS: Source.. I complained to Dell and they sent me out a replacement GPU 3 times.. The rebooting problem persisted after every replacement.. I even told them on the phone I wanted a new revision (Dell US have acknowlegded there is a problem with the first revisions) and to make sure it was not a refurbished unit. They obviously didn't listen as they sent out the same revision each time and they were all refurbished units..

So I lost my temper with them and demanded a new machine. They agreed stright away smile.gif

    I now have a XPS2 with a 2.23 GHz processor wink.gif which is a free upgrade from 2GHz smile.gif

To put this wee surprise into context.. I bought my XPS2 in April. Paid 1,950 for it. This was after a 15% discount from 2,300 or so and also after been given a free upgrade to a 3 year next business day warranty (costs 300 euro or so). So in total I got about 650 euro worth of discounts :)

When I was buying mine, the cost to upgrade to a 2.13GHz processor was over 400 euro.. The cost now to upgrade from a 2.13GHz processor to a 2.23 units is 200 odd euro..

So I have come out fo this experience pretty well :) I will never hear a bad word said about Dell anymore :)

Gateway used to use this product tatic also ...shipping first revision boards to europe a few months after the problem has been resolved in the US

they claim the insurance from the manufacturers of the board for the fault and then re ship it ! .....

apply the principal discussed in fight club about car recalls and its easy to see how the corporates make lots of cash

on a side not ...anyone notice DELLs prices taking a hike in reponse to their poor stock market performance ?
