No the dat72 is only read/write compatible with dds3/4 tapes.

yeah... saw that on the HP site a while ago.. Pain in the hole..

Before I go grovelling to the unix board, anyone know of a good way to move data from a Redhat Linux 6/7 or SCO server to a Fedora Core 3 server?

FTP isnt an option, generally there isnt enough space left on the hard drive of the old server to compress the required data in order to ftp it. I've done several changeovers now by putting the dat72 into the old server and taking a backup. Annoying thing is it generally means an extra 2/3 hours per job to take the backup. What's even more annoying is that there would already be a perfectly good backup taken onto a DDS2 tape before I arrive. And no, putting the dds2 drive into the new server isn't an option. I tried that today and the fricking scsi bios wouldnt detect it. *phew* I need a pint.
