I love 'em...great ironic industrial rock 'n roll antics, er germans with a sense of humour even! I had the privilege of seeing Laibach last year and I'm sure KMFDM will be as good as...

in the meantime while we await ticket info have a listen to this:

I hope not, Laibach was one of the worst gigs I'd ever seen

Any idea where they're playing? Can't wait. I'd give my right shoe to hear them play Ultra live.

    *** 05.12.05 KMFDM + Lluther, the Village, 8pm, 20.00 euro

The fathers of industrial rock make their first and only Irish appearance at The Village, Wexford Street on December 5th:

Such industrial alt-metal outfits as Nine Inch Nails and Ministry received the lion's share of press and commercial success during the '90s, but there were a handful of other bands that were slugging it out for just as long (if not longer), including KMFDM. Founded in in Germany during 1984 by Sascha Konietzko, KMFDM pioneered the crossover between techno / dance and heavy metal with their signature industrial sound. Moving to Chicago in the mid-80s KMFDM was the pride of Wax Trax Records during the label's peak. Rapidly evolving year by year through intense experimentation and touring; the band has redefined themselves with each new release.

Venturing on to dabble in side projects and then re-establish KMFDM in Seattle during 2001 Sascha's revolving band of misfits stood the test of time. Currently helmed by the dual vocal attack of the band's founder Sascha and siren Lucia, KMFDM celebrated 20 years of musical excellence by travelling performing 62 shows in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. To quote themselves, "the future belongs to those of us still willing to get our hands dirty". Living by their D.I.Y. philosophy, KMFDM have launched their own online KMFDM Store and record label (KMFDM Records). Currently the band embarks on a World Tour in support of Hau Ruck, their new album released jointly through Metropolis Records / KMFDM Records. The self-proclaimed fathers of industrial-rock show no signs of stopping.

Members have included Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks / Ministry), Raymond Watts (Pig / Einsturzende Neubauten / Psychic TV), Willem Rieflin (Ministry / Revolting Cocks / 1000 Homo DJs), Tim Skold (Shotgun Messiah).

Tickets are €20 including booking fee from City Discs, Road Records, Sound Cellar, WAV box office, Freebird and online at www.tickets.ie.

    plus special guests Lluther

    so anyone go?

thought it was great apart from a few loopers who seemed to just wander into the gig randomly... and of course, the punk band who supported... who's idea was that?

*after hearing silence after playing a few songs*
<punk band lead guy> you guys rule
<someone in the crowd> well you suck

It was empty and the majority of the crowd didnt seem to get into it till the end but it was a good gig. Just that Monday was a horrible day for it. The support were muck in a funny way. Whatever happened to the advertised support?

Who were ths support if it wasn't Lluther?

I was told after it was Dead Girls and Boys supporting as Luther's equipment got held up in Germany :(

I thought it was quite funny when he asked the audience if anyone drank in fibbers. Silence followed by "You suck!" it just got worse whenever they stoped between songs.

KMFDM where good, one of the few bands I've wanted to see live but the sound in the village sucks, way too much bass.

Brilliant gig. Support got mauled! It was horrible.

I agree, the sound was definetly not perfect (usual for The Village) but KMFDM pulled off a blinding show regardless.
