Driver length - 47" or 45.5"? need help

    Somebody help!! I bought new driver, it's 2" longer than my old one. I hit it so sweet but can't get the face closed at impact thus pushing it right a lot of the time, could the extra length be the problem, I'm 6ft 4" so use longer clubs anyway but the driver is 47", should I get it reduced in length. Its the only club I'm having problems hitting. If I could get my driving sorted I would be off single figures in no time ( current h/cap 11)

    I've tried almost everything, I really hope that it's the length that is causing me to not get a good turn on the downswing

    it is a very long driver, most pros stay below 45" so you should too.

    have you tried using a stronger grip i.e. have more knuckles visible on your left hand when addressing the ball

    its long but but its your swing. trimming migth help you.
    as the club gets longer or the loft gets lower swing flaws are highlighted. so the driver multiplies any flaw by both factors. length realy effects despersion rather than creates a push. so if its shorter youd probably push it more accurately. woosnams driver is probably up to his chin your prob more like a 6 footer with a normal driver. so its not too long to not push but it is long enough to spray a bit.

    most comon causes of push :
    reverse pivot,
    ball too far back,
    ball too far forward, :rolleyes:
    too much tension in muscles under left elbowthru impact, you might see a sligth chickenwing (mostly caused by holding wrist cock too long, or a fear of casting)
