Buying LCD monitor: opinions please

    I have it narrowed down to a choice of a 4:3 or 16:9 19" TFT.

    4:3 - 19", 16ms, 250cdm, 450:1
    BenQ T903
    BenQ manual

    16:9 - 19", 20ms, 350cdm, 500:1
    Acer AL1913W
    <edit>corrected: spec at above URL incorrect, response time is 20ms according to Acer user manual (not 23ms)</edit>

    (in french, but spec-terminology is easily guessed)

    Will be using for watching TV & widescreen movies as well as a PC monitor.

    Is 20ms response with the Acer good enough for video?

    Is widescreen worth 50euro more? I've worked out all the actual screen real-estate differences, really interested in usage impressions/experiences (ie: if it was just a TV, would you pay 50e more for 16:9?)

    Another way to put it: in the case of forcing the use of all available screen area, which compromise is a better option:
    - crop left&right when zooming 16:9 format on 4:3 display
    - crop top&bottom when zooming 4:3 format on a 16:9 display

    Anyone have pure Acer-Vs-Benq opinions (aside from format differences).

    Otherwise, anyone want to expound general arguments for or against either/both?

    also, anyone care to provide wild, unfounded theories on the weight difference:

    Acer = 4 kg
    BenQ = 7.4 kg

    apparently BenQ's are made of kryptonite and weigh a little heavier because of superman's defensive powers :p

    as i said in theses lcd threads before, i love my l90d+ :)

    I did notice feeling a bit queasy beside the BenQ at the display section, this could be useful in helping me decide, if I am less bulletproof using the BenQ then the Acer could be the safer option!

    At a guess on the weight: The benq probably has its power supply built in, and the Acer probably has an external brick for a power supply, not being counted in the weight of the unit.

    I thought Benq and Acer were the same company now anyway?
