Can anyone recommend a piece of classical music that has the Harpsicord as the main instrument?
I remember one time in school this English Literature teacher had brought in a few vinyls and this Harpsicord piece sounded almost like an acoustic guitar.
Never found out who it was tho.

Can somebody recommend an Opera?
I remember this girl i knew would play this opera cd that was really inspiring, it was really atmospheric sounding, intensely building to a cresendo at times but mostly really dreamy, female voices.
I think it was sort of popular in the early 90's.

(this board has suddenly got me spending lots of time listening to tracks at amazon.com)

The World of the Harpsichord used to be a poplular album at one stage - doesnt seem to be available now but might be worth keeping an eye out for it secondhand.

I'm dwelving into classical music now.
I hate the fact that amazon.co.uk has different stuff than amazon.com the us site.
Also, co.uk uses realplayer i think for audio samples which is really poor quality and seems to messup my audio codecs.
Anyway i found out the name of the opera i was thinking of, Richard Strauss: Elektra.
Unfortunately it's hard to find the recording i am looking for, i have a pic of the cd cover but am not sure who the composers are or if it's been released by some other label with a different cover.
Anway i was listening to some Bach samples of harpischord concertos and it was what i'm looking for, but that was the US amazon site.

Richard Strauss: Elektra - lots of information here.. Its usually best to searh for a particular recording by conductor. If you are in Dublin try Tower or HMV in Grafton Street for opera versions, The Naxos label(www.naxox.com) is great for stuff like the bach concertos and is a budget label. CDuniverse.com also has classical excerpts on line and is very reliable for buying. A google search for classical music online gives lots of links. You can also search for reviews of recordings at the Gramophone Click on Gramofile.

I did a search for Compact Opera Collection which I got from your post and that's how I found it.
