It's a pity Creative have decided to cripple all recording in every new model since the Jukebox 3.

    How so?

I've been thinking of buying a HD MP3 player but haven't researched it yet (in an effort to temper desire while I am short of cash!)

you can get an fm wired remote which will allow you to record and also listen to the radio. It also (as indicated in the name) allows you to control it remotely - handy if you dont want to keep taking it out of your pocket. I spent about 50 euro on ebay to get one (I really wanted the record - but the radio is nice too!)
I have this and I also got my girlfriend an iPod.
The ipod is slightly smaller, slightly lighter and easier to use.(these dont bother me in the least I have to say - it fits in my pocket easy!) The creative has a way longer battery life, and they both play songs. Lets face it - if thats not what you are really looking for then dont buy an MP3 player!
