I think a bit of combining and rationalisation of these stickys would be a good idea.

Does anyone agree with me ?

....but it's the same on all the other pages - you need to scroll down a page to get to the new threads.
how about a single link to all stickies being the 1st sticky!

    Didn't see this untill now.

Actually the sticky regarding cloning cards etc was only up there temporarally in response to repeated threads like that and the board never had a rules/charter sticky untill a couple of weeks ago. They are now combined.
The charter used always be in the announcements section here which was proving unsatisfactory for the simple reason that they disappeared every time there was a general boards.ie announcement.

So those two stickies made it look like it has.

Looking at other similar "techie" boards like Broadband, five or six stickies seem to be the norm.
Apart from the rules, the idea of stickies in a board like this is usually either a campaign or to address FAQ's.

The other thing to consider is, how awkward is it to scroll down to the non stickies and the unread ones are always in bold. This is the first complaint of that nature so I'm leaving this open for others to comment.

    ( maybe it should be a sticky :D )

I'm just thinking back to the days when people complained that there were'nt any stickys.

Yes, there are too many stickys. I would even go one step further and say that the ICDG forum is becoming over regulated. A sad point I had to make, as i have been on the ICDG forums, old and new since the beginning.

It's not at all over-regulated. Less regulated forums implode.

6 or 7 stickies isn't too many, as long as the info is regularly needed.

The RTE dogs might indeed as well go as (1) A lost cause, (2) Been around a while, and not exactly info needed.

I'm not a good example thoiugh, haven't upgraded any of my 4 web sites for ages..
(eircom.net, boards.ie, tamkits.net and the otherone I even forget the host of, maybe QSL.net)

Perhaps we could have a single sticky on Freesat/FTV cards so as to avoid the continual reposting of the same questions again and again and again? Any future posts on FTV cards could then be shunted to that sticky. Although most of the information is already in the FAQ, most people seem incapable of reading it.

It might also be an idea to add the details for digibox/receiver repairers to the 'shops' sticky.
