I've been trying to use my dad's BoI Laser card on www.play.com, and despite having the Maestro symbol(which Play list as being accepted) it has been declined. I'm a complete novice to online shopping and maybe I'm just not entering the info ,ie. card number etc., correctly. Has anyone else had problems? Feedback would be much appreciated.

Try the new 3v card from www.3v.ie - you can buy it in (certain) newsagents as easy as phone credit. I've not tried it myself, but only hear good things :)

A Laser card can only be used for purchases when the site specifically state it. Generally most of theses sites are within the Republic of Ireland as the Laser card is unique to Ireland (as Switch is in the UK). The Maestro symbol only indicates that the card can be used to withdraw money abroad at ATM machines bearing the Maestro sign. I think CD Wow accepts Laser cards.

Actually I tried it this weekend, it's fantastic, subbed to boards.ie, got an SA account, a domain name, some stuff on amazon; just things you can't normally do without a credit card.

It's a great freedom, it's a little roundabout putting all the pieces together to make it work though. Took me hours to find a shop that actually sold the credit because I didn't bring a list with me when I went into town.

There is one listed in the ilac centre, is it the shop that is under the library?

Play don't accept laser because it is an irish debit card. However, cdwow.ie do.

You can use laser on the other cdwow websites too like www.cd-wow.co.uk and com and net etc as thye will most likely have more stock and be cheaper than .ie!

apart from cdwow havent really come across any other online shops that accept laser.... :(

I went to the Mace in Rathmines eventually. I think it was the first time the guy behind the counter had done it because I was chatting to him about it for a few minutes.

You'd expect one to be on O'Connell Street, or Grafton Street. The mond boggles as to what they were thinking.

    3v is not laser.
3v is accpeted everywhere that visa is.
(ie- just about every online shop)

Yes, It is very roundabout, what with registering etc.

The newsagents in the very centre of the illac centre is easy to find.
    they sell them.
