I don’t ask you to go
    Sleep in the spare room
    When I should

    Instead I move
    My pride aside and
    Lift the duvet

    After another
    Excruciating evening
    Spent excavating

    You offer me
    A chocolate éclair

    A blank envelope
    To stuff my feelings into

    So I wander outside
    Pacing my frustration

    With each scrawl
    My heart howls
    Into the late-night
    Summer air

    Quietly plotting
    My escape
    Over the balcony

    Watching the unmoving
    Boats light up
    The water

    Sentences slip out
    And I start
    To shut down
    My hopes

But then you come out to find me
And I don’t hear the traffic
    Or my catastrophic thoughts
    Sizzling along my synapses
    Anymore

very nicely written - all the right bits in the right places - love the way the reference to the boats slips in - don't know why - just seems to fit - keep up the good work!!
