....Lauched yesterday I think on chan #914.

    From DS:
Galway Bay FM will launch on NTL Ireland's digital service next week.

"In effect, it is like being granted a quasi-regional licence in that we will now be broadcasting to an additional potential audience of 250,000 listeners in the Dublin, Waterford and Galway areas, on top of what we have already," Keith Finnegan, the station's CEO, told the Galway Advertiser. "The news will also be welcomed in some parts of Connemara where the station has experienced transmission difficulties in the past. Now all NTL digital customers will have to do is switch on their TV and go to Channel 914 to listen to us."

Ireland's Competition Authority is currently investigating the acquisition of NTL Ireland by UGC.

Infact it appears to have just replaced Primetime Radio.

I've always wondered by local Dublin Radio stations, such as FM104 where never made available on Digital. Although FM104 where promoting/hinting at putting their evening talk show on CITY Channel - could be interesting.

Indeed, NTL could do alot worse than get Talk News 106 on the whole system then they can add WLR-FM to the Waterford line-up!

    Merging with the existing thread.

Incidently, for some wierd reason Galway Bay FM didn't replace PrimeTime Radio on my digibox until I rebooted it. How wierd...

I believe this makes them the first Irish ILR to transmit in digital format, incidently.

If parts of Connemara have difficulty recieving an VHF signal how the hell are they going to manage to recieve MMDS

Well, the NTL MMDS transmitters are out in Connemara, whereas the GB-FM transmitters are on Tonybrooky

If NTL have relays in Connemara surely Galway Bay have one (or more) as well

Has anyone in Dublin also lost this radio channel. Yesterday my help screen showed 160 channels on the platform, but last night this decreased to 159. I went looking through the EPG to see what channel had been removed to find out it was Galway bay FM, perhaps it was never the intention to have it relayed in Dublin?

Nope, it appears GB-FM have a nine month exclusive deal for local radio on the NTL platform.
