Hey i was just wondering.... i know its a long shot but if there was such a thing as a detune pedal where you just pressed down and it tunes down to like a tuning youve selected on the knobs or something.. it would be very handy dont ye think? if there's none out there then why not? is there some obvios logical flaw to the idea?

    thanks
    Steoob

I dont know about such a pedal but you could get the same effect on a guitar which had a Steinberger TransTrem or with a TransScale guitar.

It has a detune function but it doesn't work that well. It sounds good but if you want to detune using it, forget it.

The Steinberger TransTrem transposes down to D, C and B and up to F# and G.

If thats of any interest to you here's a demo clip from some old TV show. The first guy is good anyway. EDIT: Turn off after the first guy. If you get far enough to hear the word "bagpipe" it's too late.

only just realised thats what you were talkin about in the first place... that was a kind of Joey Tribianni moment... ah well!!!

having said that... on the Boss GT-6 there's a detuner... you may be able to programme the expression pedal to control it...

u can but its kinda dead just sounds like a chorus pedal with a broken eq knob

wouldnt a roland vg88 do this??
it has a list of alternate tuning built into it such as open g etc and you can program your own

Just buy a 7 string guitar. Most pitch shifted stuff sounds ****e, really, really ****e. Handy for the odd quirky note but you'll just make people feel sorry for you if you try playing chords or riffs, which is what I think you're trying to do.

Buy a Yamaha pacifica for less than E170 and leave it in the alternative tuning :)

The PS5 is alright it has a trem arm feature and a detune feature u can use both to drop or raise the sound, i use the trem arm down an octave to record bass sounds works a-ok, you cud drop a 5th or 3rd and it would work it might get fussy if u try to do chords though, but it would definitly work for single notes its a great pedal, one of my favs

going back to the Boss GT-6... you can use the pitch-bender pedal as a detuner... using the settings you can program it to bend the pitch a few frets down as opposed to a whole octave
