shake the steering wheel from side to side while wiggling the key. this sometimes works.

take out the key and smear some vaseline on it. it should make it easier to
turn in the ignition. also turn the key 180 degrees and put it back in as this sometimes helps. check you don't have a soft or flat tyre as the steering will be hard to turn.

Sometimes steering wheel locks can be very tight, don't force the key if it breaks it's a huge pain in the ass.

Apply some weight to the steering wheel anti-clockwise and hold it there, then gently try the key, if no joy then try likewise but holding some weight on the wheel clockwise.

There should be no need to force the key whatsoever.

trotter sorted it for me , I held the key as far as it would go , turned the steering right and then left sorted it right out :)
