I've just lost my camera. It was quite expensive and I'd like to have my next camera insured. Anyone know anything about doing this?

I'm sure there was a thread about this before but I can't find the search forum feature.

Slap it on your house insurance. I'm sure you would have to declare it to them so that can add it to your policy.

hmm, i was planning on getting my camera put on the house insurance. Not too sure what to expect prise wise. What exactly would be covered under house insurance?

I'm in the process of getting mine insured on the house. Roughly €2500-3000 worth of equipment. For €2500 I was quoted an extra €25 per year on the insurance, which is really good.

However the insurance company needs receipts for each item you want insured, or, if you don't have any, you have to get your equipment valued. I'm getting mine valued from Conns cameras. They charged me €15 for a typed letterhead, signed, so I can send it in to the insurance company.

Can you also confirm if one would be covered if it is stolen from a location other than home (Or, indeed, a different country) ?
    Thanks

I too recently lost my camera - a Canon Powershot s1 with a 1GB microdrive which cost me quite a bit! I accidently left it behind with relatives in the states while on holiday - they posted it to me by airmail but 7 weeks on and no sign of it. I don't think my travel insurance would cover this. I've just ordered a Finepix S5600 from dabs.com for £232 - the best price I could find online. Hope its as good as the Canon!

I'd prefer the canon to be honest. Not too big a fan of the Fuji to be honest and I've used both.
