I got a japanese PSP way before all'yall september people.

Downside is that I have no warranty in ireland, and sony charge €190 for any kind of PSP repair.

Problem is, my DC IN is not receiving power, I have tried different adaptors.

PSP runs off the battery, but I can't charge it because there's no power going through.

ANyone know where I can get it fixed?

Btw.... I was making a joke with reference to the UMD cases in Xtra Vision!
I got mine in June.Have you tried a different battery. It could be that!

    Yeah.

Hey, I complained about the cases, I felt terrible having to actually give those out to customers, my manager did nothing!

I have a new battery, the problem is definitely with the DC input... :(

glad to hear you complained to your manager...that's what you should have said on the other thread instead of sounding off... :)

regarding psp repair....would it not still be under warranty/guarantee in Japan...is it possible to send it back there to be fixed....have you asked which ever company you imported it from, if they can help wrt the foreign warrenty

    Yeah, my mistake.

I think there is a clause in the warranty against me, something about living in japan?

Was skim reading it the other day somewhere, I also don't fancy sending it off to japan.. just the way I feel about it.

I was also thinking, seeing as though it's out of warranty here anyway, I could get a replacement power connector, and a soldering iron..

    have you tried usb charging?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,135 ✭✭✭fifth

I have a USB cable that charges other stuff, but it didn't charge the psp in anyway, and most other USB chargers have another cable to go into the dc input..

Well, i've looked at pictures of the psp taken apart, and I think I might be able to pull it off, although i'll cry if i mess it up anymore!

how about an external battery charger, you can get them for sony cameras and camcorders so i would presume there is one for psp batteries?

Yep there is, I ordered one a month ago, was dispatched ten days ago, so I am hoping it will come tomorrow.

why dont you just go ahead and open up your psp and get a part from xboxguide place
    or just sell on ebay
because unless u fix it or get another one u wont be able to update
you might as well risk it dont u think? maybe not
