I want to install a smaller hard disk as a slave backup in my computer. I know to set the jumoer settings to slave and how to install it, but do I have to use any utilities to configure it or anything? Or do I have to install an o/s on the second disk?

nope, just format it and put fat 32 on it (presuming you use win98 or win95b)
it should be picked up on boot

if you have any problem doing this in windoze, then reboot into dos and format from there and everything should be hunky dory smile.gif

you may have to FDISK it first, do the FDISK and format from within a win95/98 DOS box so it will activate the FAT32 formatting.
