Worst episode of Firefly?

For me it has to be 'Heart of Gold'. It's really boring and it doesn't fit in with what went before. I didn't like the idea of the Serenity crew 'helping others' when the show up to then purely be about the crew helping each other.

It was too much of an A-Team episode for me anyway (and yes I know Alan Tudyk called 'Ariel' their A-Team episode on one the comms ... but he's wrong! ) .

So what do you think is the 'least good' Firefly ep?

I have to agree. I think it was more of a buildup to the "feelings" between Mal and Inara

I thought Jaynestown was one long drawn out joke that wasn't even that funny. Anyone who didn't see the end coming needs their head examined.

But worse than that was the one where they went to the ball. (Was that Heart of Gold? I forget the name of it). There are some truly class lines when Mal duels with eh, the other guy. But other than that the episode was a total wash.

I was originally going to say Jaynestown but then you guys mentioned Heart Of Gold. I had to look-up the insert to check which one that was and then I realised that yes, it was the worst. I much prefer the sci-fi side of Firefly to the western side so Heart Of Gold didn't really do it for me.

My least favourite is 'Heart Of Gold', but it has its moments. So it's not all bad.

I agree, Heart Of Gold is my least favourite too. I quite liked Shindig myself and couldn't fault Jaynestown

Worst Episode? There isn't one, you can't use "worst" when describing Firefly.

My least favourite was probably War Stories, the whole bonding thing between Mal and Wash didn't really work for me

I agree. But my least favourite would be Heart of Gold. Still think it is a very enjoyable episode, but not as good as some others.

War Stories and Heart of Gold didn't impress me, poor episodes imo. The rest were all top notch though.

I liked Heart of GOld, it gave another "Mal is a nice guy under all the criminality" moment like in the Train Job. The one bit I really didn't like was the laser though, one of the things I love about Firefly is the accurate Physics, and a handheld laser? =/

The only one that didn't really work for me was Safe. It has brilliant bits but as a whole, I didn't feel the episode came together properly.
Liked Heart of Gold - don't agree that it wasn't a good idea to show the crew helping others - they did that in the start of Our Mrs. Reynolds as well. Mercenaries for hire. Making money any which way they can. Or getting some free tail, if you're Jayne.
Also loved War Stories - it has great moments but also was one of those "you're on my crew" episodes that underlined the bond between them.
While I loved the whole concept of Jaynestown and laughed my ass off the first time I saw it, I probably wouldn't choose to watch it as often. Though it's great seeing Adam doing anything. And some good Kaylee and Simon stuff.
My favourites are Out of Gas (all over brilliance, especially the final scene), Objects in Space (for goosebumps and giggles) and Our Mrs. Reynolds (for fun).

with bits like "This is something he has to do for himself"..."NO IT ISN'T. NO IT ISN'T" and the bit where yer man was going to make Zoe choose. Must be heart of Gold alright. Poor enough episode. Although, or couse, Jayne was funny in it
