    Hi,

I'm looking to buy a good spec laptop for about €1500

I'll be using it mainly for office type stuff, watching DVD's and also playing some games so I'd want a decent enough GFX card.

Ideally I want to find some kind of interest free finance deal. I have been looking for a good while myself but I'm a bit swamped with all the options and the only laptop experience I have is with a Dell Latitude D600 at work.

    Cheers

PS: I'd also consider a 2nd hand one

Take a look at the Acer Aspire 5024WLMi.
I bought mine here for about €1350.
Dont know about getting finance tho.

It's ok, just orderd an Inspiron 9300 from the Dell outlet store an hour ago. Got a very sweet deal I reckon:

    1.83Ghz Pentium M, 1 gig RAM, 80 gig HD, 17" WUSXGA screen, 256mb GeForce Go 6800.....for just under €1400

Probably too late to tell you to go for a Sony Vaio then.

I find the build quality of the Dell's very 'plasticky' and cheap. Vaio's also hold their value a lot more than Dell laptops when selling on again.

Once you go Sony, you don't go back.

I reckon I'd be hard pushed to get anything near the spec I got for €1400 from Dell.

I don't really plan on selling it for a few years and I won't be lugging it around too much.

I reckon the sony's would be sweet though.....a bit more expensive maybe but sweet all the same

Nah, I bought my Sony Vaio a year ago, 2.8 GHZ Pentium 4, 60 GB HD, Wireless, Radeon 9800 Graphics for about €1,300. They are a little cheaper now.

When you get your Dell, give either the 'G' or 'H' keys a good push. Watch how the whole keyboard assembly almost buckles. Vaio's are built to Japanese consumer standards and are as solid as a brick.

Complete nonsense! As the owner of 2 Dell laptops I can guarantee you this is not the case. I can't comment on Vaio's, but most Dell laptops come very close to the build quality of my old IBM thinkpad. They are not as good, but not far behind either.

The keyboard certainly does not buckle in either.

Alright cool thanks for that. Site seems good, spose you just have to keep on watching it until what you want appears. Is that what you did calibre

Yeah, the stock list seems to change every hour so you just have to keep checking it. One thing I noticed is, when someone puts an item into their shopping cart (maybe just to check the total price and options even if they aren't buying it) it gets removed from the list for about 2 hours, even if they don't buy it.

I have saw other Inspiron 9300's for a few 100 euro more than the 1 I orderd and then saw others for about the same price as mine.

Do the price on this site inc VAT?

I've got €1249 + VAT to play with and also need a recommendation.
Was gonna get a latitude d810 with 1.7ghx 1gb Ram and 60gig HD for that.
