What are your thoughts on the best video format to use on the web?

I'm working on a site which has a lot of video and its currently offered in three formats (mov, mpg, avi) and there's quite a lot of it also in wmv format.

I've been messing around with different formats and encoders and was wondering what others think is the best format/compression codec to use. A lot of it is relatively high quality and I'm looking for the format that keeps the quality but is as small as possible.

I'm leaning towards wmv format as I find that it produces pretty good quality at say 320x240 and is still relatively small filesize.

    tks
