The game seems pretty damn good, however this demo is VERY limited, theres onyl campaign (which I havent looked at) and a 1v1 skirmish with 2 diffrent map generators (texas, and new england) and its always English vs Spanish.

However I really like the cards system, where you level up your home city and can specialise your town a little more to make it a bit more unique, however I think the demo is limited to level 9, I hit level 9 at 70k, and am still at it now at 122k XP, but regardless its well implimented. The game still has a feeling of AoE about it, which I was surprised about, but I dont like how the unit behaviour works, now the formation and stance are linked, ie: defensive stance (stand ground) puts you into square formation, You can work around this by moving to where you want to go in volly stance (aggresive stance, line formation) and then go defensive when you get to where you want to go, but you shouldnt have to work around it like this.

However big thumbs up from me, despite the limits of the demo,I'll give it 9/10 for being a damn good game

i wasnt blow away by the game like i was by the classic AOC, but its looks good so far, can't wait to see the finished game

really enjoyed(ing) the demo. Used to play AOE2 a lot but not for a while.

Two things bugging me though...how do am add a gate to my walls ? and also, how do I rotate the camera ? Anyone managed either of these ?

Its running fine on my 9600xt.
Although I'm sure it'll run even nicer on the 6600GT I ordered this morning

Graphics are improved from AOE2 of course but still looks a little rough in places, granted I've not got an uber-rig & also have yet to mess around with settings to see what I can get at a playable level.

Have to say the sound is pretty cool. Hearing 4/5 cannons bombard a building is cool.

You have to enable Camera Rotation in the options.

Thanks, but I already tried that. I guess its the key/mouse combination I need to know to use the rotation. Any ideas what you do to rotate ?

Tried ctrl+left mouse btn etc...

Last time I heard my hdd 'click'...I had to buy a new hdd !

Adding gates is the same way as it was in Age of Mythology, click on a large section of wall and 'upgrade' it to contain a gate. As for camera rotation, enable it in the options cant remember for the life of me what rotate is though.

It was the sound it makes when it powers down, nothing new, I call it a click.
Everything else works fine.
I can't think why the AOEIII demo would cause it to crash!

I just downloaded an avi of some guy kicking the AI's ass on expert and he was rotating to his hearts content !

Some of the game options(eg show player scores,etc..) are clickable but they don't appear to happen for me. Maybe its the same with the view-rotation thing. They're probably teasing you into buying it. There are a few glitches in it but the inevitable patch will fix those.
It ran fine on my Laptop(512RAM, 1.76GHz prcs......64MB graphics :eek: ) Seems good tho, early fighting is easier(I hate militia :mad: )

oooh. very nice.
Took me 3 minutes to download this.
Took longer than that to install the game.
But its pretty good. Still doesn't hold a candle to AOE:II but, it aint bad. Might have a few games of this at the next midlans. Anyone know when it will be released?

ROTATE THE CAMERA ANGLE

SHIFT + MOUSE UP/DOWN

If you want to zoom out a lot further than what it is by default go to your Startup folder and find game.cfg make a backup first !!!!!! right click and choose properties and remove the checkmark on read-only. then go into the file using notepad and find 'maxZoom' and change it to a higher number. 120 is pretty good. choose what you may. trial and error basically.

i looked all over the damn web for the camera angle stuff... hope a lot of people read this !!!

anyone else dissapointed by this....they've gone back to the AOK era ish but kept the feel of AOM....doesn't work for me....not impressed with this at all....AOK was a game i played for years....very few games you can say that about.....this just doesn't feel right..... :mad:

they had a winning formula with AOK and manged to f*** up the next 2 releases....maybe i'm jumping the gun ranting about a demo...but this is meant to entice people to buy the game....my 2 cents..

game of the year in my opinion.. first RTS that has graphics that could challenge really good FPS games..

yep i likes it....getting that hack to zoom out the extra bit really helped.....first time i tried to play it i was scrolling all over the place to try and see small sections of the map.....played the demo to death last nite......really got into it....role on the release date....hows that for a U turn!!

i dont think the save function is int he demo yet. i reckon it will be in the full version. as a game like this where u cant save??? pleh! it takes hours of fun to really play a full map with 7 enemies.
