Well, i was half considering picking up a laptop second hand to use for college. Just for wireless internet, typing up stuff and storage (photos). I don't want to spend much at all on it, but i was looking at buyandsell.ie and ebay and it seems some deals can be gotten. What range of laptop should i look for that are 1) small and 2) have wireless internet.

dell i think have a few budget laptops going
this one has a Pentium M which will be great for battery life and preformance

Considering what TimAy is planning using it for and considering he wants it cheap, I'd say a celeron would be perfect for him. I don't see the point in his paying an extra EUR175 for a pentium M in that example considering his plans are for a machine for "wireless internet, typing up stuff and storage (photos)".

yea,it doesn't have to be too fast really. It's only a consideration tbh. WHat i'm looking for is portability tbh. I have a Wireless network at home, and there will be one in work, so i really want it to be a carry around. Are there any good 12 inch lappys around?

    12" iBook :)
It's very light (2.2kg) and it comes with an Airport Extreme card as standard. The base model is about 1000 euro.
You should be able to get an older one pretty cheap too.

There is a nice latitude x1 for about €1240 on the outlet at the moment...

The more i think about it, the more i like it. I've been looking around at a few reviews and the 12" ibook seems perfect for normal usage.1000EUR, is still a bit expensive, so i might investigate into 2nd hands.
