Will the upcoming SF science students who study physics be studying 2S5 or 161? An upcoming third year told me he thought he heard them say they were scrapping the 2s5 course. Anybody able to enlighten me on this? The maths website is decidedly blank on this subject.

I agree, C never really clicked with me, much rather have to do the 2s5 mechanics course.

Isn't 2s5 mechanics type stuff, that they used to teach in physics but then shunted over to a maths course?

If the physics site has a new mechanics course on it for SF, wouldn't that mean that they're doing 161?

You and your bleedin' outside of the box thinking! Of course that's what it would mean! :D

I'm just angry I didn't think of it really  ;)

The physics dept don't seem to be teaching mechanics this year (http://www.tcd.ie/Physics/Courses/page312.php) "Last updated August 2005" so I guess it's 2s5. Sweet..

Cheers cuckoo, is star thú :)

161 gave em a feel for an application of physics in computers, which is where alot of physics people end up working, at a computer, just look at the clusters we have on campus, the vast majority of users are working on physics problems.

it may not have been fun but it is more practical than i think you's give it credit......

    Go me! ;)

You thinking of doing Schols Ape? A free room in fourth year could defo take some of the sting out of repeating JS.
