    Quick Question Folks.

When selling on ebay and using paypal to accept payments do you have to be a paying user or can you use the type of account that is free to everyone, i ask this cause when i put stuff up for auction, at the bottom of my listing it says "pay me securely with credit cards through paypal" or something similar.

Do they mean that the buyer will put money into their paypal account with a credit card and then pass it onto me through paypal which i think is possible with the standard account or do they mean direct with card which i think you need a higher grade account for?

Im new to selling and paypal, havent a clue tbh and any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

If you want to accept Paypal payments funded through credit cards, you need to upgrade the standard account to the premier account. If you go down this route you will incur a charge every time you accept a Paypal payment.

If you decide to stick with the standard account, you will not be able to accept payments funded through a credit card. The person paying will have to pay from a Paypal balance. You do not charged for accepting payments when you have a standard account.

AFAIK, people cannot load a balance onto Paypal from credit cards, they pay each transaction through their credit card.

Its worth it letting Paypal take its cut. You will find most of your sales are to other countries and cash/cheques/bank transfers are just too dangerous/awkward/slow - Paypal lets payments be made instantly etc.
