    Hey all,

Going to look at a moped tonight - this will be my first *ever*, so I'm absolutely clueless as to what to look for...
03D, about 3k on clock, 1 owner from new.

Oh, btw, I only need specifics or pointers for rolling mechanics, body that kind of stuff, as the thing's eletric. Also, paperwork and that kind of stuff, as I've not bought a vehicle privately in Ireland before.

Much obliged for any tips and advice :)

    Much thanks for that, frodi.

Bought the thing, collecting tonight. Insurance cheap as well, €255 TP on my (French) car driving license.

I'll no doubt be laughed off by any other biker, but hey! I'm on two wheels - 'bout time @ 33 years old!!! ;) ... and they can now hike petrol as high as they like, and see if I care :D

BTW, any good store any of you guys can recommend for wheather coveralls?

No true biker will laugh, there is respect for anybody on two wheels. It's a dangereous world out there. I had great fun on a 100cc moped for 4 years before my current 500cc monster.
As for the gear shop around, depends where you are based. Last place i used was JP Motorcycles in Pearse st. They were fair enough. Cotters in Ballymount are also willing to deal.

Good deals to be had once in a while from M&P. Sing-up on their mailing list. Haven't used them before, but prices are definitely cheap..

But will I get respect even when I've got training wheels on? LOL :D

Test-driving that thing sh*t-scared me half-to-death last night. 'probably been that long since I was on anything with two wheels that I've lost my sense of balance... Ah, it'll come back - just hoping for a smidgin' of clear weather this WE so I can zip around my estate in *relative* safety and get used to the thing before I hit the traffic Monday.

Re. gear, I'm based Rathfarnham, closest bike shop I know is at Ballyboden village (next to Texaco) - can't remember name :(

Sorry, I meant Rathfarnham village - opposite the castle, actually.

Whereabouts is that Nutgrove one? at the centre itself, back towards yellow house junction or the other way?

The one in Rathfarnham village is Motomax. They have a bigger one just up from Bottle Tower Pub in churchtown, see
    www.motomax.ie
I've never actually bought anything from them (yet?)
