Prob. GotoX/USALS on ProgDVB

    What am I doing wrong?

Basically the Usals / GotoX using DiseqcU pluging on ProgDVB doesn't work.
Also channel change doesn't automatically move dish.

I have changed my PC Sat card SW from the Technotrend to ProgDVB to solve a recording issue.

I noted that Diseqc 1.2 + GotoX was available for ProgDVB, so put the PC's 4 way switch and 4 sat feeds onto my Palcom DSL4 and put it's Motek H-H motor onto the PC.

I checked first that alignment from 50W to 42E was near perfect.

I put the same, correct Lat & Long into the DiseqcU "plugin" for Disqec1.2 USALS/GotoX motor control, but all the satellite positions are about 22 steps west out.

NO change made to dish or motor since moving from the Palcom DSL4 box.

Also the the Channel change creates a error on the french Diseqc control plugin (DiseqcU) Aprox Translated: "Longitude satellite 15104 is unknown in diseqc.ini"

(There is a Diseqctree.ini and diseqcu.ini, the entries match, and are matched by files in "transponders".

Also channel change does not automatically move dish, in USALS mode or stored mode.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hauppauge PCI DVB-s card (like Nexus and Skystar1) on Dell Precision 220, 933MHz, 512M RAM, Win XP pro with "eye candy" off and un-needed services off.
    ProgDVB ver 4.54
The French written "diseqcU" plugin is for ProgDVB4.4 and later and tested on Motek motor, Nexus card and XP (very similar setup).

I reconnected the Palcom DSL4 to the motor drive and only Sky worked. Did a Reset (puts motor at zero = local due south) and reselected and all positions worked.

Went back to the PC with ProgDVD and now the DiseqcU "plugin" does postion dish correctly with GotoX function!

Dunno how the motor got confused or why the DiseqcU plugin has no "reset" button.

However the channel change error "Longitude satellite 15104 is unknown in diseqc.ini" in french still exists and it still won't autmatically move the dish.

    Well, some progress.

Any Ideas folks about the remaining two problems.

BTW even exiting from ProgDVB, the IF loop out is affected too much for weaker channels on the PalcomDSL4. Found I have to change over the LNB cable.

Also the Sat card can't find channels like DAD1 on Telstar12, even when the SAME Dish LNB peaked on the other Telstar12 channels at 15W

I'm afraid I have never used a Diseqc motor, so not much use on that front, but you might try the www.progdvb.com forum for more info. Better still, try the http://dvbn.happysat.org/index.php forums where they have both Progdvb, Skystar 1/TT and HDTV sections.

As for failing to scan in DAD1, are you sure the TP .ini files are up-to-date? Normally the ones that come preinstalled with progdvb aren't great, but you can download more recently compiled ones from the net. Alt. try scanning in the TP manually - progdvb can sometimes miss channels when doing an autosearch.

I added DAD1 and DAD5 transponders to the INI file.

The sat card doesn't see the two CCTV channels on Panamasat 1R, the ini file is correct and swapping the cable onto the Palcom DSL4 it is perfect with near 100% quality.
DAD1 on the Palcom DSL4 on motorised or fixed dish (same 80cm dish) is about 79% quality. Again swapping the cable it works on the Palcom not on PC.

Also the Palcom DSL4 has a "Scan Network table" feature which finds some extra transponders on Sky 28.2, Sky Italia 13, Turksat42E , Hispasat30W and Astra 19E.

    Thanks Zaphod!

A PC with analog TV card, Sat card, DVD writer and big HD has a long way to go to be a media centre compared with ease and reliability of standard appliances (TV, Set Top boxes etc)

re:CCTV - Hard to see why it won't scan them as there is nothing special about SRs, but you could try editing the channel properties of an existing channel and entering the Freqs, SR, PIDs etc for CCTV.

Thanks for the link to the formum where writer of DiseqcU posts!
I begin to suspect the DSL4 set box is MUCH better than the PCI Sat card.

I've used about 2 years ago a skystar2 with a motor.. I remember that I had to install a plugin called "diseq12ss2" or something like that.. and very important I remember that U have to change a file in windows/drivers after that everything went ok.

I think the +14V /+18V power to LNB from PCI card isn't stable on motor drive causing problems.

Though lots offolk seem to use the Motek with Skystar1 / Nexus cards.

    The SS2 works quite differently.
