    "New laws over airguns

    TOUGH NEW AIRGUN LAWS

Tough new regulations on the sale of airguns are expected to be introduced throughout the UK.

Following intense lobbying by the Scottish Executive, it is understood the Home Office is likely to announce strict licensing restrictions to be imposed on all airgun retailers.

According to the Scotsman newspaper First Minister Jack McConnell has held talks with Home Secretary Charles Clarke earlier this week on the timing of an announcement.

Mr McConnell urged the Home Secretary to act following the death of Glasgow toddler Andrew Morton. He was killed by an airgun pellet earlier this year.

If civil servants agree the plan is workable, it could be unveiled formally by both the Executive and the UK government within the next two weeks, the newspaper said.

A new law would impose strict curbs on airgun retailers, forcing them to obtain a police licence - similar to those for alcohol but much more restrictive - as well as to record the details of every gun sold and the details of every purchaser"

Just wondering what will be the repercussions from that over here?

    Shar.
