Irish BJJ Open 2005

Straight Blast Gym Ireland in conjunction with FightGear Uk and FightGear Ireland are proud to announce the first Irish BJJ Open. Venue - St. Andrew's College, Blackrock, Dublin. Map will be on the website soon.

Date - Saturday, October 22nd

Time - Registration and Weigh-ins at 9am

Cost - 20euro competitor and 5euro for spectators

Rules - Standard BJJ rules, to be included on website soon

all competitors must pre-register to compete. Online registration will be up and running within the next week on the Irish Combat Sports website

Yup

Colours may be black, white or blue, no combined colors (white kimono with blue pants, etc.)

Are the divisions done by time training like the NSC, or are they by belt?

Rules on the site state by belt Tim.. I'd say it's going to be by belt/weight.

Me too Tim! I only bought my gi about 2 months ago and the only time I've actually used it is in Roger Gracie's for a week.

Of course!!

I'd presume unless you are planning on doing a lot of gi work then the differences between a judo one and a bjj one are small. That said, what do I know about it.

if you want a printable version of the online registration form to print it out and give it out to guys in your club that might not be 'internet friendly' but would still like to enter the competition please email me at irishbjjopen@gmail.com

they need to have it to me by wed oct 19th to be in the draw

already have a number of white, blue and purple belts registered

weight divisions will be single elimination style but the absolute will be double elimination which will give you at least 2 matches

er, i must not have made myself too clear...

if you enter your weight plus the absolute division (included in your 20euro entry fee) then you would have a MINIMUM of 3 matches. 1 in your weight and 2 in the absolute - hope that clears it up

Well that was a complete waste, work wouldn't give me the day off even after saying they would. Can't get a day off to get a driving license, can't get a day off to enter a bjj competion.. What's next? Having to pull a sickie for my own funeral? Gob****es the lot of em.
