I read in the local paper that RTE will be erecting a 24 metre telecommunications tower at Quigley's Point, Co. Donegal. Where can I find out what channels they will be transmitting on?

    RTE Technical Info
    1850 584 584

Unlike the BBC, RTE website has no info on Transmitter frequencies.

Aertel 2 on page 530 has Tech info on power outages and upgrade work, so perhaps keep an eye on that, though I'd say it'd be easier just to ring them.

At this stage is there any point in installing new analouge transmitters ?

Well analogue reception is still rather sketchy in some areas, so the more the merrier. God only knows when we'll get DTT!
I don't even think the DTT trials have started yet. :(

Thats not the only place RTE want to erect a new mast, there is one planned for Clonmel - in the town itelf (they already have a TV/radio transmitter site in the hills overlooking the town) - have a look at this published recently :

    2/9/2005 Friday IE

    Clonmel Borough Council
RTE Transmission Network Ltd is applying for planning permission to erect a 36 metre high RTE communication slimline latticework mast with associated equipment attached, with two equipment containers within a chain link fenced compound at townland of Cooleens behind the fire station on Haywood Road, and District Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary.
A copy of this Planning Application may be inspected or purchased at the offices of the Planning Authority and a submission or observation in relation to the application may be made to the Authority in writing on payment of the prescribed fee (€20) within the period of 5 weeks beginning on the date of receipt by the Authority of the application

Is it definately for analogue TV? Might it be just for Radio, or DTT?
