I am looking for the names of the following manufacturers font styles. Can anyone help? There are loads of sites where one can download fonts freely, but I just don't know what I am looking for!

    JVC
    Samsung
    Sharp
    Phillips
    Sony

...and any other manufacturer fonts anyone can suggest.

    TIA,

    Seanie.

Firstly, for what program are you looking for them for? Photoshop? Word? Something else?

A combination Rope... mostly Word/Publisher (for gimmicks and other desktop things) and Dreamweaver/Xara.

    Hmmm.

I would hazard a guess that the Photoshoppers would have a fairer idea - A lot of custom / new fonts would be sought for the program by users, and they'd mostly be the same for all other programs as well.

I'll move the thread to Digital Art / Design, and leave a redirect here for those who visit that can help.

[EDIT] - MOD(S): Inform me if this is misplaced and I'll refrain from moving 'Font Issues' here.

Use a font finder...google for one...I can't recall the one I've used in the past, but it basically asks you to input an image of the text that uses the font you want, then asks you to define the letters and comes up with the closest matches...

It's 99% likely that those fonts you're after are copyrighted and will ahve to be purchased (or may not be available at all)...I had a lot of trouble finding the DELL logo font for my current sig and ended up having to cheat a bit when the official one was going to cost €130 lol

    What The Font?

Eventually found the URL for what I was on about on this PC's other user account. This is the best tool I know of...

nice tool, closet match i found for jvc was http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/ef/diamante/ef-demi-bold/

pretty good match, theres a slight slant on the j and c that shouldn't be there, but that's easy to take care of

Those brand name typefaces are custom typefaces, developed for the logos. I doubt they're part of any font family, a full official font of those logos wouldn't exist. You'll be able to find crap rip-off versions, but they won't be any use if you want to get them printed professionally, and they're bad quality - spacing and proportions all wrong and unpleasing to the eye. If you're using them for digital stuff (websites, or photoshop), they're usable.

Yeah, these are more than likely not going to be actually fonts, but are in fact postscript images. I had a font once with the names as the letters, no idea what it was called though.
