Found this product going at a very nice price and i'm tempted to bid in it. But alarm bells are going because of 2 things.


1. The price is very cheap taking in its a top of the range camera. The seller is in taiwan and the exchange rate is very friendly (1000 taiwan dollers = 25 euros) But still you'd expect at least a grand in euros for this quality of camera.


2. The seller will not accept paypal. They only want one of the following:

Bank Wire

Western Union

or Money Gram.

Only two feedback and no paypal? No way in hell. One of the things I like about ebay is you can decide how much risk you are willing to take by examining feedback carefully.

If this was for a small item even upto a few dozen quid then maybe, only maybe, if the item was hard to get etc...

What are the previous items that he has sold?

I've seen people who have sold hundreds of crappy key rings to build up thier feedback suddenly make the leap to selling expensive equipment.

the more i look at it, the more i think its a scam...but there's always that brief flicker of hope...

it's simple if it's worth €1000 and he's selling for €25 then it is a scam.
It has all the hallmarks - too good to be true, direct transfer of funds etc.
It's clever though. Appeals to your greed and it seems that €25 is a small gamble. The reality is that he is probably getting €25 plus shipping from all over the place. Nice earner for the chap. See he's got other stuff there as well that is getting up into the €300 bid range.

My advice is go for pay pal only so either way your covered(but see fraud sticky if in doubt about paypal).

You can edit your search on the ebay tabs for paypal only. seriously its the only way to go.
Or in the case of ebay.ie if you can do a pick up and just give cash in hand with a recipt only two ways i'd work.
