Irish channels in the UK

I think I have this right but I want to double check before I order it.

To get Irish channels in the UK I need to order sky to an Irish address, say my parents address. Set it up to be paid from either my Irish bank account or Irish credit card. Then I go get them and set it up in my apt here?

I want to get sky+ so will that still work? And when they set it up in my parents house do they have to drill holes in the wall to set it up?

if you order Sky so they give you a free box and dish you will have to connect the box to the phone line for 12 months. with this you cannot move the card or box for a year

you can however get the card without the free equipment, and doing it this way a phone line isnt needed

I wouldn't be getting a free box anyway as I'd be ordering sky+. So I buy a box and dish from somewhere else and order a card from sky to my parents house?

Will the card work with any box or should I get the box first so I can give them a serial number or something?

Are all 4 Irish channels included on the sky package?

They are on the family pack and above (possibly the value pack too I read recently)

Yeah get the card sent to your Irish address and then ring Sky with your number blocked giving them all the details they need.

You need to authorise and "marry"(ie get sky to pair it to your box not someone elses) the card in your own sky plus box, other wise RTÉ one and two wont work and neither will the premium channels.

RTE 1+2 are no longer box paired. my card works for RTE in my 3 boxes from last week. :)

The apt I'm renting has a sky box and dish in it at the moment. Does this mean I can get the card and put it in that box if I don't get a plus box first?

    Thanks for all help everyone.

yes, if they are not paired, the card will work on any Sky Digibox

afaik pairing is only for the premium channels like sky movies and sky sports,

im also assuming that if you want sky+ you will need a sky+ subscription and you need to have the box into the telephone line for 12 months for this.

You say you already have a sky box in your apt, one note here is that you will need a dual LNB with a second co-ax line to the box for the second tuner in the sky+ box.

Its been played around with so that at different times, RTE 1 and 2, AtTheRaces and even TalkSport have been paired.

TG4, RTE1 & RTE2 are no longer paired to the box and the card can be used in any other digibox to view these channels. Digibox cards will not work in a Sky+ box.

Since when? They always used to work, sans any recording/timeslip features.

since when is this the case? my Sky card in the Sky+ box originally came from a regular Sky box. a Sky card is a Sky card

a sky+ box is a digibox just with two tuners and a videoguard chip for decoding, hence any digibox card will work in a sky+ box.

I can only take from your post that you mean you wont get sky+ privialges with a normal digibox card swapped from a normal digibox
