My Biggest Win Ever, British Speed Poker Open

    Hi Lads,

Well at last I’ve had a big win. Up to this stage, I came 2nd in a 2k guarantee, which won me around 600 euros. Last night I won a seat at the British Speed Poker Open in London next week. It’s worth $4k and only costs me $20. The guys from Paddy Power have been brilliant and everything as been arrange with flights and hotels, they even rang me by 10 am this morning to congratulate me. I’m really looking forward to the event and can’t wait to play in front of the cameras and against the pros. It should be a amazing experience and I think it’s a brilliant opportunity been offer by PPP. You guys should all give it a go, the structure to the final game was brilliant, 15 min blind periods, its not speed decision making, you even get a full 30 seconds.lol The satellite’s had only 5 min blinds and this was a rebuy event, but this made for fast poker and was great fun to play in. You can buy indirectly for 100.

So a big thank you to PPP and now I must move on and try to play live poker. What have I got myself into? I’ve only played a few live games in pubs, (6) at this stage and have won nothing, got to the bubble at one event, so I don’t know what will happen to me. I’m heading to Vegas next month, so should help my live game.

So any helpful advice or video clips or knowledge on the following pro’s would be appreciated, will do my best not to let you guys down. Aaaaaaahhhhhh. or myself, just let me win one hand.

Wont sleep now for a week!

    The pros are:

    Lucy Rokach
    Kevin O’Connell
    Alan Betson

Congrats and great work. I actually logged on to PPP last night to check on who was playing...again, a massive overlay by PPP as only 16 (IIRC) were played for a prize worth $4k. I think there are two more qualifiers, I might play one of them depending on how the STTs go this week.

Oops, maybe not, the next one is on Wednesday night and there is the small matter of beating those frog-eating freedom-fry hatin' chumps to focus on!

    congrats great result...

I will be playing on Wed to see if I can go one better than my 2nd place finish last week

thanks guys, have a big smile on my face all day.

Also won a hamper of drink yesterday at my golf club, won the main team event, so had a really good weekend. It was a big overlay by PPP, but I think the word speed, but a lot of people off.

Anyway, I'm heading to the Red Cow tonight, 3 in a row and all that luck I'm having at the moment. So this will be my first real live tourment, if you see me or hear my name, make sure to say hello. But dont beat me or go head to head.lol

well done Ollieboy, you must be thrilled. i seen you at the top of the pile in the 'finished' section. i played with you(i mean against you) in a few stt's. i will have to change my player notes now!!!...joking!.
my advice would be to think of these pro's youll be playing against as avatars and play your internet style game against them. if youve got this far playing the way you did then maybe you can go a little further playing the same.

How about as we watch back home we sing the Chumbawamba song each time you win a big pot!?.

    Chumbawamba Ollieboy

    I get knocked down
    But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down

    Pissing the night away
    Pissing the night away

    He drinks a whisky drink
    He drinks a vodka drink
    He drinks a lager drink
    He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him
    Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
    Of the better times:

    "Oh Ollieboy
    OllieboyBoy
    Ollieboy Boy
    ..."

I'll remember to mention that in the interview Rounders, we should try to get it record, some lads will have the Rocky theme song, but I'll have chumbawamba.

Congrats ollieboy. Hope the London trips goes well.

Do you guys all use the same userid on PPP as on boards.ie? I've been on PPP for a few months now and I haven't, as far as I can remember, come across your names (although rounders123, or rounders, does ring a bell). I usually play the $5 stts or 25c/50c cash games.

    My userid's negret btw.

(and I've got no PPP buddies)

thanks lads, I'll write a report on my return if I'm allowed to give details.

I wont say anymore at this stage, but whatever happens, its a bonus. I've only played a handful of live games, always play on PPP and never in a casino, besides a holiday weekend in Vegas, so this will be a great buzz

Thanks again for all the good wishes.

PS. I was lucky enought to win 2.7k on Sunday nite in the 7.5k rebuy event on PPP, so hopefully the form and luck hold up.

By the way Rounders, I order Sky today. And will def head to the next game in AUL.
