FTV card activation

Got a FTV card, phoned sky, now waiting for activation.
How will I know that it is activated? I assume the 103-105 come up in the EPG when it has. They said that this could take anything from 4 minutes up to four hours. Says six hours on the info that was with card.
    Anyone any experience with this?

Will you do me a favour and see if you can tune C4 or C5 manually using the info below? I can but don't have them on the EPG (see my other thread).

    CH 4 Freq = 12168; V; SYMBOL RATE 27500 2/3

    CH 5 Freq = 12304 , H, SYMBOL RATE 27500 KS/s.

Yep, I can program them via other channels.

CH5 comes up as five TT.

It has been four hours now and I still haven't got ITV, C4 & C5 on the EPG.
I have activated the card myself in an old box.
Can I assume that as I can get ITV C4 & C5 via other channels, it is now activated and safe to use in our main digibox? (so it doesn't screw up our sky subcription card).

    EPG is now updated! :)
(left digibox on for nearly 12 hours)

    103 - ITV1 Meridian S
    104 - CH4
    105 - Five

    Also noticed that we have...

    941 -958 Various regional BBC1 channels
    960-962 Scottish, Welsh & NI BBC2
    963 - ITV1 London
    964 - CH4

    :)

Now to pack away the old box and use both cards in the main box.
Have swopped from sub card to FTV card and back, no problems! :D

Anyone know how long they cards can be left out before they will need a signal, so they don't time out?

    One happy chappy!! :D

Just need footy on ITV now!

Jeez, I've waited a full week and still no EPG. Very odd. Card is being returned for a refund today so end of story.

Is your EPG software up to date? Other than that, I don't know why it wouldn't work. :(

But if you can get the channels via "other channels" surely that's just as good although a slightly longer way of selecting them.

sorry lads, probably a stupid question to you pro's.. but if I buy a Freesat card can I just stick it in the digibox and it'll work??? or do I need a different receiver?

FreeSat cards only work in Digiboxes, so the anwer is yes, just stick in the viewing card slot of your digibox.

If you buy an Active one (from a dealer or ebay) then all you do is stick it in, if you get a friend in the UK to buy one for you then you need to 'activate' it before you use it by phoning Sky with your box number.

The golden rule to remember is YOU CAN ONLY PAIR ONE CARD TO ONE BOX.
This means, if you have a subscription card being used in your box already and you put a new freesat FTV card in that box, once it has been activated you won't be able to use your original subscription card in the box.
SO if you have a box with no card for it, yes you can use it straight away.
I was lucky, I had an old digibox packed away that I paired the freesat FTV card in. With FTV cards, once they have been paired with a box you can use it in another box with no problems.
I have now packed away the old digibox not I have paired the ftv card and I use both the subscription and ftv card in the one digibox.

    Hope that helps.

i've paired two cards to one box, no problem, but i've never had the phone line plugged in though...

Two freesat cards? Or a sky subscrption card and a freesat card?
I don't think the phone line makes any difference as it's done through the satellite.

One ftv and one subscription, I see now you meant you can only pair one FTV card at a time ....d'oh . It was ambiguous though.

the phone is relevant as it can phone back while you have an ftv card in a box registered in ireland, i'm not sure how aggressively sky pursue it now though

Theres an irish company selling freesat cards.. at extortionate prices mind you as they include the 'uk address' thing. They seem like a legit company, checked the address, phone and paypal all match up. How would I find out if anyone has used them without ending up banned for advertising something thats possibly illegal????????:confused::confused:

And so we won't go down that route of discussing it...
