Dead pixels unusual?

I recently purchased the philips 32" 5320 LCD HD. I was watching tv last night and I noticed a white spot on the screen from about 7 feet away. On closer inspection, I found it was the broadcast and not the tv but while I was having a closer look I noticed the smallest of white pixels. Is this common on LCDs straight out of the box?

All manufacturers have a tolerence level for dead pixels whether they are new or old. Once the amount goes over this level you can go back with it.
