    hey,

im starting 1st year college next week in dun laoghaire....unfortunatly im residing in Ennistymon, Co. Clare. My Digs only operate from Monday to Friday.(Im hopefully going to get a 7-day bedsit)

For the moment I have a lift up and down for the first few weeks. But after that I may have to switch to public transport.

Could sombody tell me what would be the best way to get up and down, and whether I should use the bus or train services?

    Thanks in advance!

    Duffy

I looked up Bus Eireann's web site and found that they have buses between Ennistymon and Dublin (6.5 hrs, 2 changes, Oranmore and Lisdoonvara; ouch).

Then you could walk to Connolly Station (only around the corner from Busaras) and get a DART to Dun Laoghaire.

I found this all out without having to move from my keyboard.

and if you are going to the IT in DL then you will need to catch the 46A from DL dart station

or just get the 46A out from town, it will take longer but...

Iarnrod Eireann operate seven trains a day from Ennis to Limerick and Limerick Jct, offering connections there into Dublin bound services.

On arrival at Heuston hop on a tram to Connolly and get a DART from P6 at Connolly to Dun-Laoghaire (Bray or Greystones bound).

The above journey can all be done by one ticket. Ask for a Student Return from Ennis to Dun-Laoghaire and it will include the LUAS / 90 bus transfer across town.

The next step for you is to find out the CORRECT information without having to move from your keyboard. :p

The better route to Ennistymon by bus is via Ennis/Limerick, there are several services daily.

On Fridays there is a direct bus to Ennistymon (Miltown Malbay bus) at 5.00pm from Busarus, it also picks up at Cook St. (Near Christchurch) at 5.30. It is scheduled for 5 hours but as it's first stop is Ennistymon I suppose it is as fast as the traffic conditions.

On Sundays the bus is at 5pm from Ennistymon to Limerick connecting with the 18.30 to Dublin, arr 22.10.

If it is the art/design college then the DART is of no use, it is a long walk from there. The 46a bus is the closest.
