    Well,

    For Mac's - iDVD.

For Windows PC's - Nero or RecordNow!

There's a load of shareware software to be found from typing .avi to DVD at Google, but in my experience they are usually fly by night software companies, you're better off buying one of the above.

Nero Vision Express takes about an hour and a half to do 700meg on an amd 3200.

I've used Divx-To-Dvd for a while now, its pretty good, found it a lot faster than nero, and its extremely easy to use.

Use "Divx-to-Dvd" to convert .avi to some VOB files.
Then use "DVD Shrink" to convert the VOBs into a handy ISO for burning
